Busy week ahead
Today began one of the busiest weeks in elementary schools...across the state. Tomorrow my students will take the TAKS test in math and on Wednesday in reading. I don't know why, but every year I pray for this test to be over. I feel such relief when it's finally over. There is anxiety at wondering how your students did, but you can no longer do anything about it. It is all in their hands. When the test is over, I curse that it is over. The kids no longer seem to care, and all I hear is: "Why do I have to do this? The test is over." So it is bittersweet. Plus, staring at the kids for 2 straight days with nothing to do but watch like a hawk is, sadly, extremely exhausting.

Mom's surgery
Today I stayed home with Katie and my mom went in to have angioplasty on her legs. Mom's triple bypass surgery was 15 years ago. Unfortunately, it did not work. So, we will have to wait and see what happens next.

Mini Me
Tonight was Uncle Brett's 30th birthday, I know...I'm still in denial too. This means in just 7 1/2 months, I too will be 30. My parents took us all out to dinner at Logan's. While we were waiting, I had Dave take this picture of Katie and I. It's weird, but as I looked onto that tiny screen on my camera, I thought I saw a miniature me. I was shocked at how much my own daughter looks like me. I always thought she looked like herself in her own little way.
